Welcome to Year 4.

We hope your child is settling in to the new school year. We have lots of fun, exciting and challenging things planned for them.

The children made an excellent start to their swimming lessons yesterday and I’m sure you will notice their progress as the year goes on.  Please could you make sure that the boys are wearing the correct swimming shorts. They should be wearing tight swimming trunks NOT shorts.

This week, the children have also had a visit from the ‘Bug Lady.’ They were very brave and they held all sorts of creepy crawlies including snails, spiders and  cockroaches!

Keep your eye on the blog, as some photographs will follow shortly.

Finally, please feel free to come and speak to us at the end of the school day should you have any questions.

Kind regards

The Year 4 team

Space Travel

In literacy we have been writing sentences with verb/adverb and emotion starters.  To do this, we have been writing a recount of a space shuttle lift off.  Of course, some NASA astronauts visited us and we blasted through the atmosphere in our rocket.

Daniel screamed at atmosphere breakthrough!

The visiting astronaut.

NASA staff were on hand to help out.

We were very nervous at T Minus 90 seconds.

Our RE theme this half term is sacrifice.

On Tuesday, we sacrificed our break time and our lunch time to help other people.  We visited St Anne’s church in Bispham to serve lunch to the people in the community.

We made bread and placemats to take and we served fish pie and ice cream.  We sang for them and chatted for a while.

We felt very proud that we had helped others.
